Deadpanist You feel the rage and spite boiling right under the surface. The subdued approach works wonders. A prime example of taking a genre template and turning it on its head. Fantastic and surprising.

EthelTheFrog What an evolution this band has gone through! Oblivion is one of my favorite black/death albums, and now they're doing...what? Post-metal? Atmospheric post-metal? It's still highly potent stuff. Dense and dark, it weighs down on your soul.

Anders M. Nordli This album brings something new into the music scene. I saw the word "unique" was being used by someone else, and it is indeed the correct word to describe this album. Give it a few tries and you will never be the same again. Favorite track: Your Skin Won't Hide You.

about

The enigmatic and daringly experimental EMPTINESS have returned with 'Not For Music', their most adventurous album to date. The follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed “Nothing but the Whole”, 'Not for Music' was produced by Jeordie White (MARYLIN MANSON) , mixed by Sean Beavan (GUNS AND ROSES, NINE INCH NAILS) and sees EMPTINESS further their exploration of absolute sonic dread. Tracks such as "Meat Heart", "Your Skin Won't Hide You', and the aptly titled "Let it Fall" see the band break all conventions of black and death metal with their morose and innovative songwriting. Dark and foreboding, EMPTINESS manifest malevolent soundscapes and 'Not For Music' is a perilous journey into the unknown. Beware!
